Regarding electronic Patient Care Reporting (ePCR) and naloxone administration: In 2018 New Jersey enacted N.J.S.A. 26:2K-67 which requires emergency medical service providers, to report to the Department, in the most recent National Emergency Medical Services Information System (NEMSIS) format, information concerning each incident in which the entity provides emergency medical services, including the nature of the medical emergency and the emergency medical treatment or services provided, among other information. In short, ALL emergency medical service providers are required to submit electronic ePCR data to the Department. This information is critical for the monitoring of health bio surveillance and identifying risks to public health and safety. To help with this mandate, the Department of Health offers ePCR free to all New Jersey-based agencies. To register for an account, please visit http://www.state.nj.us/health/ems/ems-toolbox/, Additionally, there are over 40 NEMSIS-compliant ePCR vendors to choose from.
